Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist
When you know something needs to shift – and are ready to look inward

What Therapy With Me Is Like

Beginning therapy is often less about having everything figured out and more about noticing that something inside you is asking for attention.

Our work unfolds gradually.

In early sessions, we take time to understand what brings you here — not just the current concerns, but the patterns that feel familiar. We explore how you’ve learned to cope, relate, and protect yourself over time.

There is no rush to fix or solve.

Instead, we begin by observing.

How We Work With Patterns

Many of the struggles people bring into therapy are not random. They are patterns — ways of relating, responding, or managing emotion that once made sense.

Together, we explore:
  • The relational dynamics that continue to repeat
  • The internal narratives that shape how you see yourself
  • The protective strategies you rely on under stress
  • The emotional responses that feel automatic or difficult to interrupt

Insight is part of the process. Understanding where patterns began can bring clarity and relief.

But we also pay attention to what happens in the present moment — how these patterns show up in your body, your thoughts, and even in the therapy room itself.

When we slow down enough to notice them as they unfold, new choices become possible.

An Embodied Approach

Thoughtful reflection is important. So is learning to notice your lived experience in real time.

At times, we may gently bring attention to:
  • Subtle shifts in your breathing
  • Tension or constriction in your body
  • Emotional responses that arise before words do
  • The impulse to withdraw, overexplain, or take responsibility

This isn’t about analyzing every sensation.

It’s about building awareness of how your nervous system responds — and increasing your capacity to stay present with yourself, even in moments that feel uncomfortable.

Over time, this awareness supports more grounded and intentional responses in your relationships and decisions.

The Pace of Our Work

Therapy with me is steady and collaborative.

Some sessions may feel reflective and exploratory. Others may focus on a specific interaction or moment that felt activating.

We move at a pace that feels thoughtful rather than overwhelming.

You don’t need to perform insight.

You don’t need to come prepared with perfect language.

You don’t need to be in crisis.

You only need a willingness to look inward with curiosity.

What You Can Expect Over Time

While each person’s process is different, clients often begin to notice:
  • Earlier recognition of familiar patterns
  • More space between emotional trigger and response
  • Increased clarity in relationships
  • Greater comfort setting boundaries
  • A steadier internal voice

The goal is not to eliminate all discomfort.

It is to help you relate to yourself differently — with more awareness, intention, and self-trust.
